The idea of being in a band originated with our friend and roadie, Matt. He and I started a band with Nick when we were in middle school. After a while Nick split to start a band with our old bass player Jon. They called this band "Counting on Tomorrow". After a year of friendly rivalry, I decided to leave Matt and join Nick and Jon on the condition that they change the name. They used the "name game" and came up with Riot Avenue. We then went through various drummers. One quit right after agreeing to record a demo with us, and we paid the non-refundable down payment. We finally found a drummer named Adam. He was only 14, but damn good. He was also rich! His dad bought us a PA system and the family had connections to a band in Los Angeles that let us open for them when they came to a small club called Breakers in Hartwell. He quit not too long after that show to do other things. We found another drummer named Matt (aka Matt Drummer) who was quite good. Jon started slacking off around that time and Matt ended up quitting. After Matt quit we started writing more songs and looking for another drummer. We came close to being signed to a small label, but fate worked against us and we were not able to get our press kit ready; mostly because of starting school and Tri County Tech. After a few failed attempts to make a home recording, we found a new possible drummer. Jon started slacking off again around that time, and didn't get to audition him. After a warning was given to Jon, giving him 2 more chances, he screwed up and he was kicked out. Because we believe in giving credit to those who deserve it, Jon's name appears as the writter of most of the lyrics. We now have a new bassist named Scott, and he's damn good. We are working on new songs and hope to post some new lyrics soon. Until then...
